Kalipada Ghosh Tarai Mahavidyalaya, recognised by UGC under 2f and 12B was established in November 1988 as an undergraduate College. This is a grant-in aid college affiliated to the University of North Bengal. The College has around 2.22 acres of land in a rural-tribal belt of Darjeeling district, West Bengal and this is a coeducational institution.
The college has been accredited at the B level by the executive committee of NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) on February 02, 2006.
The College was established with a mission of spreading higher education among the under privileged class and rural community. The college provides undergraduate programme under Four faculties - Arts , Commerce, Environmental studies and Sciences. The B.A programme covers Honours in Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, History,
Geography, Political Science, Sociology and Philosophy. B.Com. Honours is offered in for
Commerce Students. B.Sc. Programme covers Honours in Mathematics only. Besides,
there are 15 General stream subjects in Bengali, Nepali, Hindi, English, Economics,
Geography, History, Political Science, Sociology, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Commerce,
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. These subjects enable students for competitive examinations and nurture the cultural heritage as well. The college follows a transparent online system of admission on the basis of merit.
